Aloha Members of the UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Community!<\/p>\n

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported our M\u0101noa Smoke-Free Campus Initiative<\/a>, particularly those who have courteously moved off-campus to smoke. Your actions are greatly appreciated, especially by students and employees with respiratory issues. We continue to ask for everyone’s thoughtful consideration of others in this important advance of campus health and safety.<\/p>\n

As part of our commitment to the health and wellness of our campus community, I would like to encourage everyone to attend the Great American Smokeout<\/a> this Thursday, November 16 at the Campus Center Courtyard from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This health fair will provide guidance, resources and support on how to quit smoking for smokers themselves and for friends and loved ones who want to help.<\/p>\n

By quitting, individuals take an important step toward a healthier life, one that can lead to reduced health risks for themselves and those around them. The event is open to everyone. Come and join us. We can all benefit from learning more about this challenge for the health of our families and communities.<\/p>\n

The Healthy M\u0101noa Smoke-Free Campus website<\/a> provides information on cessation resources, frequently asked questions, educational materials, and tools and tips to quit smoking. Contact the Health Promotion Resource Center<\/a> at (808) 956-3574 or send an email to nosmoke@hawaii.edu<\/a> for assistance.<\/p>\n

With the holiday season upon us, it’s a great time to take the next step to take care of ourselves as we all look forward to a healthier and happier 2018.<\/p>\n
