Ann M. Burkhart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nationally recognized real estate law expert Ann M. Burkhart will give the lecture Fixing and Foreclosure November 9, 4:30 p.m. at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a> moot courtroom.<\/p>\n

Burkhart is the Curtis Bradbury Kellar Professor of Law and has received the University of Minnesota Law School’s Stanley V. Kinyon Teaching and Counseling Award as the overall Teacher of the Year\u00a0five times. Praised for her outstanding scholarship, mentoring of students\u00a0and passion as a teacher, she has also been named a Distinguished University Teaching Professor by the University of Minnesota Law School.<\/p>\n

Burkhart’s lecture is the UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa law school’s 2017 Distinguished Gifford Lecture in Real Property<\/a>, an annual free public lecture presented by the Carlsmith Ball law firm.<\/p>\n

“We are honored to have Professor Burkhart speak at the Law School and address a topic of such importance to our community,” said Acting Law Dean Melody K. MacKenzie<\/strong>. “We are grateful to the Carlsmith Ball law firm for their continued support of the Gifford Lecture and for advancing the education of our students and graduates in learning from such a renowned scholar.”<\/p>\n

The Gifford Foundation established the\u00a0Distinguished Lectureship in Real Property in 2002 to honor David L. Callies<\/strong>, the Benjamin A. Kudo Professor of Law at the UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa law school, and prominent local attorney Jerry M. Hiatt\u00a0for their superior work in the field of real property. The foundation is a charitable organization established by Jack Gifford, chairman, president\u00a0and chief executive officer of Maxim Integrated Products\u00a0Inc. in Sunnyvale, California.<\/p>\n
