{"id":7023,"date":"2012-06-05T10:41:24","date_gmt":"2012-06-05T20:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=7023"},"modified":"2021-04-12T12:55:56","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T22:55:56","slug":"uh-hilo-students-honored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2012\/06\/05\/uh-hilo-students-honored\/","title":{"rendered":"<abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Hilo students honored"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/hilo.aerial.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/hilo.aerial.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/hilo.aerial-260x146.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo students were honored with the <abbr>IFSA<\/abbr> Global Scholarships and Droste Awards.<\/p>\n<h2>IFSA Global Scholarships<\/h2>\n<p>Three <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo students have been presented wth <abbr>IFSA<\/abbr> Global Scholarships which will enable them to spend an entire academic year studying overseas beginning with the Fall 2012 semester.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zacahary Mayberry<\/strong>, majoring in Japanese studies with an English minor will study at Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, Japan<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mitchell Sambrano<\/strong>, majoring in Japanese studies who is enrolling at Tokyo Gakugei University in Tokyo, Japan<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Sellers<\/strong>, plans to attend Korea University in Seoul, South Korea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The scholarships provide first-generation college students with financial need an opportunity to study abroad. Each student received $3,333, which was made possible through a grant sponsored by the Institute for Study Abroad Foundation.
