They felt the sun and wind on their faces and ate fresh tropical papaya, pineapple and bananas with friends and family.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a memorable experience for the Mission <abbr title=\"five\">V<\/abbr> crew for a variety of reasons, including having to live with a communications delay, eating mostly shelf-stable foods and having to wear &ldquo;space suits&rdquo; outside of the habitat.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/HI-SEAS\">Watch as the <abbr>HI-SEAS<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Roman numeral five\">V<\/abbr> crew members reflect on their mission.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa research project, funded by <abbr title=\"National Aeronautics and Space Administration\">NASA<\/abbr>, will help with the selection of crews for future long-duration space missions, such as a mission to Mars. <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> has been operating the long-duration planetary surface simulations in the Mars-like setting to investigate crew composition and cohesion since 2012.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/tag\/hi-seas\/\">Read more <em><abbr
