Installed in collaboration with <strong>Jason Leigh<\/strong>, the director of <a href=\"http:\/\/lava.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr title=\"Laboratory for Advanced Visualization and Applications\">LAVA<\/abbr><\/a> (Laboratory for Advanced Visualization and Applications) at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, this video screen will offer new opportunities for teaching and screening of student work.<\/p>\n<p>A 1,040-square-foot area within <a href=\"http:\/\/uluulu.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Ulu Ulu\">&#699;Ulu&#699;ulu<\/span>: The Henry <span aria-label=\"Kuualoha\">Ku&#699;ualoha<\/span> Giugni Moving Image Archive of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a> in the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Library will be transformed into a theater with seating for about 40 people by the end of 2017. Ceiling tiles, walls, and windows will be blacked out and a sliding, retractable acoustical wall will be installed to separate the theater from the rest of the area.<\/p>\n<p>The centerpiece of the theater has already been installed&#8212;15 high-resolution <abbr title=\"Lucky Goldstar\">LG<\/abbr> Electronics screens have been joined together into a 135-square-foot screen where multiple video and other images can be viewed at the same time. The 55-inch, 4<abbr title=\"millimeter\">mm<\/abbr> thick <abbr title=\"organic light-emitting diode\">OLED<\/abbr> screens feature the latest <abbr title=\"Lucky Goldstar\">LG<\/abbr> Electronics technology that has better color expression and refresh times than older displays.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Because of the thinness of the technology it is the first time displays are becoming like wallpaper.
