They can attend Honolulu Community College for a quarter of the price, without the burden of finding housing, transportation, time away from family and peer support,&rdquo; shares Diesel Instructor <strong>Bobby Salvatierra<\/strong>. &ldquo;<abbr>NATEF<\/abbr> ensures the highest level of quality education for every student who attends our accredited program.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_61967\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-61967\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/honolulu-diesel-technology-2.jpg\" alt=\"diesel technology student working on engine part\" width=\"300\" height=\"395\" class=\"size-full wp-image-61967\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/honolulu-diesel-technology-2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/honolulu-diesel-technology-2-197x260.jpg 197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-61967\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diesel students will now benefit from <abbr>NATEF<\/abbr> certification status.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Honolulu <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">CC<\/abbr> diesel technology program is the only <abbr>NATEF<\/abbr> certified training facility in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. The program has undergone some major changes to get to where it is now that includes working closely with employers semi-annually through its advisory committee meetings. Through these partnerships the program has received various vehicles, scholarships, training and support from the industry it serves.<\/p>\n<p>Many graduates of the program are working with prestigious companies such as Hawthorne Cat, Thomas Service and Repair, <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Transit Services, Affordable Towing Service and Repair, Roberts <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, Enoa Tours, Island Movers and Nan Inc. to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,&rdquo; said Donald Seyfer, former <abbr>NATEF<\/abbr> chair. &ldquo;Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Honolulu Community College\u2019s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by HonCC, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the work force.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Salvatierra added, &ldquo;I am excited to spearhead this program with the support of the staff of Honolulu Community College.
