Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM) and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> based life sciences company <a href=\"https:\/\/cardaxpharma.com\/\">Cardax, Inc<\/a>. was selected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nia.nih.gov\/\">National Institute on Aging<\/a> for its anti-aging Interventions Testing Program. The institute is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Getting into the Interventions Testing Program with the National Institute on Aging is a game-changer,&rdquo; said <strong>Bradley Willcox<\/strong>, professor and director of research at <abbr title=\"John A. Burns School of Medicine\">JABSOM<\/abbr>&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/departments\/geriatrics\/\">Department of Geriatric Medicine<\/a>. \u201cIt puts <abbr>CDX<\/abbr>-085, Cardax\u2019s proprietary astaxanthin compound, into a very elite club of compounds that have the potential to become true anti-aging therapies.\u201d Willcox is principal investigator of the <abbr>NIH<\/abbr>-funded Kuakini <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> LIFESPAN and HEALTHSPAN Studies and Cardax Scientific Advisory Board member.<\/p>\n<p>In March of this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2017\/03\/28\/astaxanthin-therapy\/\"><abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> and Cardax jointly announced that <abbr>CDX<\/abbr>-085 showed the ability to significantly activate the FOXO3 gene in mice<\/a>, which plays a proven role in longevity.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Out of all the compounds they could have chosen, they chose ours,&rdquo; said David G.
