Herbavore, a customizable garden handtool business received first place honors at the\u00a0University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship<\/a> (PACE<\/abbr>) 2017\u00a0Business Plan Competition at the Waiʻalae Country Club on May 3. Four teams competed for prize packages totaling more than $40,000 in cash and in-kind awards.<\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Business Plan Competition is an intense, experiential program that provides mentorship, training and resources to UH<\/abbr> students and faculty who seek to learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur and start a business venture. Through this\u00a0competition, participants practice the art of testing the feasibility of a business idea, developing a business plan\u00a0and pitching it to investors.<\/p>\n

The results are:<\/p>\n

First place<\/strong>—Prize package includes $10,000 cash and more than $12,500 value in legal and marketing services
\nTeam:\u00a0Herbavore
\nHerbavore is a company that designs and manufactures innovative, modular horticultural hand tools.
\nTeam members: Robert Saito<\/strong> and Derek Woodruff<\/strong><\/p>\n

Second place<\/strong>—Prize package includes $5,000 cash and $8,000 value in legal and marketing services
\nTeam:\u00a0Radial3d
\nRadial3d is a virtual and augmented reality platform that facilitates shared viewing of medical images by clinicians and their patients within a “Mixed Reality”\u00a0environment
\nTeam members: McKay Davis<\/strong>, Scott Lozanoff<\/strong>, Jesse Thompson<\/strong> and Evan Young<\/strong><\/p>\n

Third place<\/strong>—Prize package includes $2,500 cash and $3,000 value in legal and marketing services
\nTeam:\u00a0Turnover BnB<\/abbr><\/a>
\nTurnover BnB<\/abbr> is a company that connects vacation rental hosts with cleaners to provide seamless and reliable turnover service.
\nTeam members: Assaf Karmon<\/strong> and Timothy Roy<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition was supported by title\u00a0sponsor American Savings Bank. Other\u00a0sponsors include Convergent Law Group, The Harold and Sandy Noborikawa Chair of Entrepreneurship, HiBEAM\u00a0and Pineapple Tweed.<\/p>\n
