UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> early college students from Waiʻanae High School’s Searider Productions program at the 2017 Pele Awards.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> early college students Abigail Mae Calara<\/strong>, Christian-Elijah Peebles<\/strong>, Ryssa-Jean Edayan<\/strong>, Jerahmeel Cabahit<\/strong> and Robin Bucaneg<\/strong> received the student silver award for animation and special effects at the 2017\u00a0Pele Awards<\/a>. The students were under the direction of Michael O’Connor<\/strong>, head of Waiʻanae High School’s prestigious\u00a0Searider Productions and a UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> creative media lecturer.<\/p>\n

The students, who won silver for\u00a0What Goes in the Ocean<\/em>, are participating in an\u00a0early college collaborative effort between the Academy for Creative Media<\/a> at UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> and Waiʻanae High School’s Searider Productions. Students who are part of the Waiʻanae High School’s Searider Productions and choose to take part in this program have the\u00a0opportunity to fulfill their high school graduation requirements while simultaneously earning college credits from UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>.<\/p>\n
