Earth Day has grown in popularity and importance since it was first established in 1970. Though it is officially observed on April 22, Earth Week events are being celebrated across the 10 University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> campuses.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Kauaʻi<\/span> Community College<\/h2>\n

Kauaʻi<\/span> CC<\/abbr><\/a> celebrates Earth Day with a full week of speakers, workshops, live music and a community clean-up effort, April 17–20. <\/p>\n

<\/a>Honolulu Community College<\/h2>\n

The 6th annual Hoʻolaulea on April 12 at Honolulu CC<\/abbr><\/a> featured information booths, live music, interactive activities and even an imu-roasted pig!<\/p>\n

<\/a>UH<\/abbr> Mānoa<\/h2>\n

Ka Leo<\/a> and the UH<\/abbr> Office of Sustainability<\/a> celebrate Earth Day on April 19 with eco-conscious booths, fun activities and live music. See schedule.<\/a> <\/p>\n

The School of Architecture<\/a> presents the BUILDING VOICES Design Festival, April 20–22. The festival brings together diverse and dynamic lineup of more than 40 guest speakers to explore ways that design can serve the public interest, examined through some of the most pressing environmental challenges facing Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, our region and the world.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo and Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College<\/h2>\n

The 29th Annual Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> CC<\/abbr><\/a> and UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a> Earth Day Fair and Career Conservation Day on April 21, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and a concert from 2 p.m. features informational exhibits, a food sustainability panel, environmental science skill-building workshops, marine touch-tanks and more. Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College–Pālamanui<\/h2>\n

Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> CC<\/abbr>–Pālamanui<\/a> is hosting Earth Day Fair at Pālamanui at the Kailua-Kona campus on April 22, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. There will be displays, a trash sculpture contest, a koa tree giveaway and opportunities to tour the campus. Learn more.<\/a><\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/h2>\n

UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> features a free screening of Island Earth,<\/em> April 18 (doors open at 5 p.m and the movie begins at 6 p.m.) The film centers around how are we going to feed the world without destroying the planet we live on. <\/p>\n
