Siobhán Ní Dhonacha<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa Honors Program<\/a> Faculty Specialist Siobhán Ní Dhonacha<\/strong>, has been selected as a presenter at the 51st National Collegiate Honors Council<\/a> (NCHC) conference in Seattle, Washington, October 12–16. <\/p>\n

Ní Dhonacha will present the session entitled, “To Thine Own Self Be True, But First You Have To Get To Know Yourself: Access, Equity, and Social Capital in University Honors Programs—Building Bridges to Carry Everyone Across.” This session highlights building bridges to access, diversity and equity, and examines the effect of a revamped experiential learning curriculum and pedagogy on students who may feel they lack the social capital required to dive into research or internships that can support and lead them to successful outcomes and graduation. <\/p>\n

While in Seattle, Ní Dhonacha will have the opportunity to explore the city of Seattle through NCHC<\/abbr>’s City as Text™ Program<\/a>, network with other honors students and faculty from across the country and around the world, and celebrate the unique community created by honors education. NCHC<\/abbr> anticipates nearly 2,000 students and faculty hailing from all 50 states to be in attendance at the Seattle event, as well as visitors from Mexico, Greece, the Netherlands, Japan, Qatar, Great Britain and China. <\/p>\n

NCHC<\/abbr> is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and enhance the community of educational institutions, professionals and students who participate in collegiate honors education around the world.
