New this year is a vendor fair in the Campus Center Courtyard featuring community resources and services available to <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa students.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The M&#257;noa Experience is our signature open house event to introduce incoming freshmen and prospective students to our beautiful campus,&rdquo; said <strong>Roxie Shabazz<\/strong>, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management and director of admissions. &ldquo;We hope they will come with friends and family to experience everything that we have to offer.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Scholarship Awards Weekend<\/h2>\n<p>The weekend of April 1&#8211;3 has also been designated as the first annual Scholarship Awards Weekend. Recipients of the New Warrior Scholarships&#8212;including the Regents&#8217;, Chancellor&#8217;s, M&#257;noa Merit and Doctor of Medicine Early Acceptance Program&#8212;are invited to participate in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday, April 1: Scholar-to-Scholar Day<\/strong>&#8212;Current scholarship recipients are paired with new awardees to share their experiences at M&#257;noa.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunday, April 3: M&#257;noa Scholars Awards Brunch<\/strong>&#8212;New awardees will be recognized for their scholastic achievement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The purpose of the M&#257;noa Scholarship Awards Weekend is to congratulate and recognize awardees and provide opportunities for them to discover the vast academic and research opportunities at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa.<\/p>\n<p>According to Shabazz, &ldquo;We&#8217;ve seen a 26 percent increase in applicants from our local student population and are pleased to be able to offer scholarships to more than 200 <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> students this year.
