Rockne Freitas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The City Council of the City and County of Honolulu<\/a> presented former University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> Chancellor Rockne Freitas<\/strong> with an honorary certificate at its monthly meeting on February 17 at Kapolei Hale.<\/p>\n

The council recognized Freitas, who retired as chancellor of UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> on December 31, 2015, for his achievements in football and his contributions to the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and Native Hawaiian community.<\/p>\n

Under Freitas, UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> achieved record numbers in enrollment and was reaffirmed by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges for seven years upon the strengths of the university’s student-centered environment.<\/p>\n

Freitas previously served as vice president for student affairs and university and community relations for UH<\/abbr> System<\/a>, as well as chancellor at Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College<\/a>.<\/p>\n
