The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship<\/a> (PACE<\/abbr>) will host a Kīpapa i ke Ala lecture<\/a> on February 16, featuring <\/a> Walter A. Dods, Jr., chairman of Matson, Inc.<\/a> and author of Yes! A Memoir of Modern Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/em>. Dods will sit down for a rare interview with PACE<\/abbr> Executive Director Susan Yamada<\/strong><\/a>, and take questions from the audience immediately following the interview.<\/p>\n

“I am excited to get to know Walter, and ask him to share his experiences about his rise to the top in Â鶹´«Ã½’s corporate world,” said Yamada. “I plan to point to fascinating stories from his book and extract his thoughts about being intrapreneurial and innovative within a corporation.”<\/p>\n

Dods retired as chairman of the board of First Hawaiian Bank<\/a> in 2008. He currently serves as chairman of Matson, Inc. and as trustee to the Estate of Samuel Mills Damon. He continues to serve on many corporate and civic boards.<\/p>\n

Event details<\/h2>\n

The lecture will be held at the Japanese Cultural Center of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>’s Mānoa Grand Ballroom. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., with the lecture starting at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the audience will be given the chance to pose questions to Dods. <\/p>\n

Immediately following the lecture, his book, Yes! A Memoir of Modern Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/em>, will be available for purchase at a discounted price of $10. Dods will also remain after the lecture to meet audience members and sign the book.<\/p>\n
