Ben Wizner, Edward Snowden’s national ACLU attorney, to give talk at UH Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law

The public will have a chance to hear Ben Wizner, Edward Snowden’s national American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) attorney, discuss “Liberty and Security in the Age of Terrorism” at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ William S. Richardson School of Law on Friday, January 15, 5:30 p.m. in Classroom 3. Wizner is director of the ACLU Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, and is the lead American attorney for NSA whistle blower Snowden.

The presentation is part of the unique “January-Term” (J-Term) schedule held during winter break each January at the law school. It brings to Â鶹´«Ã½ exceptional legal scholars and advocates to teach special classes for extra credit for law students, continuing educational credits for practicing attorneys, plus thought-provoking offerings for the community.

Wizner’s talk—part of a class co-taught by retired four-star Army General David Bramlett—is the final class in a week-long J-Term course taught from opposite points of view to offer provocative ideas for Â鶹´«Ã½ law students. This session, free and open to the public, will deal specifically with “Surveillance in a Free Society.”
