As interim vice chancellor for students, Ideta directs the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studentaffairs.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">Office of Student Affairs<\/a> division that includes the Office of the Dean of Students; Enrollment Management; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studentaffairs.manoa.hawaii.edu\/departments\/seed.php\">Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Lori Ideta has dedicated her career to advocating for our students at the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M&#257;noa,&ldquo; said <strong>>Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman<\/strong>. &ldquo;This is a well-deserved honor for Lori and it&#8217;s great to see her accomplishments recognized on a national level by <abbr>NASPA<\/abbr>. Her commitment to higher education and ensuring that our university supports diversity and social justice exemplifies what it means to be a Pillar of the Profession. We are extremely proud of our colleague for receiving this honor.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Pillars of the Profession award honors individuals who have served as teachers, leaders and scholars in the field who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sustained professional distinction in the higher education field, as defined by donors and supporters.<\/li>\n<li>Served in leadership roles in <abbr>NASPA<\/abbr>, either regionally or nationally.<\/li>\n<li>Are recognized or remembered by colleagues, friends, students, or student organizations for extraordinary service.<\/li>\n<li>Have made significant lifetime contributions to the higher education field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ideta has been an active member of <abbr>NASPA<\/abbr>, serving as a member of its board of directors, a regional director, program reviewer and presenter.
