The College of Continuing Education and Community Service<\/a> at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> won two marketing awards from the Western Association of Summer Sessions Administrators<\/a> (WASSA<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

Sara Hayashi<\/strong>, a support specialist for the summer session program, accepted the awards on behalf of UH<\/abbr> Hilo at the WASSA<\/abbr> annual conference held last month in Reno, Nevada.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo’s 2015 Summer Session Catalog won the Charlie Award for Best Printed Piece. A total of 900 catalogs were printed and mailed to academic counselors at Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> high schools and contacts at various Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and mainland colleges.<\/p>\n

The catalogs also were distributed to academic advisors and other departments on the UH<\/abbr> Hilo campus and handed out to students, faculty and staff at a summer session registration and information table during the first week of summer registration.<\/p>\n

Best Print Media Advertising Award<\/h2>\n

A Summer Spotlight Series developed by the college’s summer staff won the Best Print Media Advertising Award. This award was judged based on theme and distribution.<\/p>\n

The Summer Spotlight Series featured specific summer courses in the format of individual flyers, including print and electronic distribution. The material was more in-depth than the catalog and eye-catching in hopes of getting students interested in specific courses. The flyers also were available on the UH<\/abbr> Hilo Summer Session website<\/a> and the UH<\/abbr> Hilo Summer Session Facebook page<\/a> and on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another important piece of the Summer Spotlight Series were triangle mini-displays using select flyers resized to create a tabletop display. These displays were placed on tables in the Campus Center and Hale Kehau dining areas. They were created to catch the attention of current students in a place they frequently visit and to provide a visual reminder about summer session registration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
