The nationally renowned author and president of <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.newhope.edu\/\">Pacific Rim Christian University<\/a> will discuss &ldquo;The Meaningful Life of Servant Leadership&rdquo; on October 27, 3:30 p.m. at the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Classroom Building, D237. This event is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n<p>Keith will discuss &ldquo;servant leaders&rdquo; as defined in Robert K. Greenleaf&#8217;s classic 1970 essay, <em>The Servant as a Leader<\/em>, and elaborate on the importance of the desire to serve when leading and the key characteristics of servant leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Keith&#8217;s presentation is made possible by the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program. The program brings seasoned scholars and practitioners in the humanities, social sciences and indigenous arts, traditions and cultures to <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> for the benefit of students, faculty, staff and the community.<\/p>\n<h2>More on Keith<\/h2>\n<p> Keith is a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Honolulu and has a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Harvard University, a master&#8217;s degree from Oxford University in England, a certificate in Japanese from Waseda University in Tokyo, a law degree from the University of  at M&#257;noa and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Southern California. He is a Rhodes Scholar.<\/p>\n<p>Keith is known throughout the world as the author of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentmkeith.com\/commandments.html\"><em>Paradoxical Commandments<\/em><\/a>, first published in 1968. His book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paradoxicalcommandments.com\/\"><em>Anyway: The Paradoxical Commandments<\/em><\/a> became a national bestseller in the United States, and has been translated into 17 languages. He is a passionate advocate of servant leadership and has written a number of books and articles on the topic, including <a href=\"https:\/\/greenleaf.org\/products-page\/the-case-for-servant-leadership-2nd-edition\/\"><em>The Case for Servant Leadership<\/em>,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greenleaf.org\/products-page\/servant-leadership-in-the-boardroom\/\"><em>Servant Leadership in the Boardroom<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/toservefirst.com\/ethical-advantage-of-servant-leadership.html\"><em>The Ethical Advantage of Servant Leadership<\/em><\/a>.
