Kent Keith<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> will host a presentation by Distinguished Visiting Scholar Kent Keith<\/a>. The nationally renowned author and president of Pacific Rim Christian University<\/a> will discuss “The Meaningful Life of Servant Leadership” on October 27, 3:30 p.m. at the UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> Classroom Building, D237. This event is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n

Keith will discuss “servant leaders” as defined in Robert K. Greenleaf’s classic 1970 essay, The Servant as a Leader<\/em>, and elaborate on the importance of the desire to serve when leading and the key characteristics of servant leaders.<\/p>\n

Keith’s presentation is made possible by the UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program. The program brings seasoned scholars and practitioners in the humanities, social sciences and indigenous arts, traditions and cultures to UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span> for the benefit of students, faculty, staff and the community.<\/p>\n

Keith is a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Honolulu and has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree from Oxford University in England, a certificate in Japanese from Waseda University in Tokyo, a law degree from the University of at Mānoa and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Southern California. He is a Rhodes Scholar.<\/p>\n

Keith is known throughout the world as the author of the Paradoxical Commandments<\/em><\/a>, first published in 1968. His book Anyway: The Paradoxical Commandments<\/em><\/a> became a national bestseller in the United States, and has been translated into 17 languages. He is a passionate advocate of servant leadership and has written a number of books and articles on the topic, including The Case for Servant Leadership<\/em>,<\/a> Servant Leadership in the Boardroom<\/em><\/a> and The Ethical Advantage of Servant Leadership<\/em><\/a>. More than 200,000 copies of his books have been sold throughout the world. <\/p>\n

From 2007 to 2012 he served as CEO<\/abbr> of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership<\/a> in Indiana, and from 2012 to 2015 he served as CEO<\/abbr> of the Greenleaf Centre for Servant Leadership (Asia) in Singapore.<\/p>\n
