The display will continue for a month through Friday, October 23.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit brought together a broad collection of works by members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a> community, who produced photos, paintings, wall hangings and a unique, wall-sized art projection by lawyer\/artist\/writer Sonny Ganaden.<\/p>\n<p>All of the pieces touched on controversial issues such as human trafficking, development on Mauna Kea, immigration, World War <abbr title=\"two\">II<\/abbr> internment of people of Japanese ancestry and social and economic equality.<\/p>\n<h2>Featured artwork<\/h2>\n<p>A stunning &ldquo;bomber&rdquo; jacket, assembled from dyed female undergarments and created by mediator, artist and clothing designer Elizabeth Kent alluded to sex trafficking with its title, &ldquo;Meet Me at the Meat Market, But Be Careful.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39288\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39288\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/manoa-law-exhibit-portrait.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"410\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/manoa-law-exhibit-portrait.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/manoa-law-exhibit-portrait-190x260.jpg 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39288\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&ldquo;Jojo&#8217;s Fierce Empathy&rdquo; by Randy Compton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A stark portrait in black on yellow by attorney Randy Compton portrayed Jojo Peter, a wheelchair-bound scholar and outspoken advocate for his fellow Micronesians.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He&#8217;s the embodiment of social justice to me,&rdquo; explained Compton, who is on the staff of the <a Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kkv.net\/\">K&#333;kua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services<\/a>, and who paints what inspires him. &ldquo;Jojo does so much for disadvantaged people, including people with disabilities. And he&#8217;s just a really nice guy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The art works were juried by a committee chaired by Law Librarian <strong>Roberta Woods<\/strong>. The display was established by law library staff members, led by Law Library Director <strong>Victoria Szymczak<\/strong>, who has been planning to offer the public an exhibit like this for two years. &ldquo;Our goal is to provide a forum where art and law meet on common ground,&rdquo; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is open to the public and may be seen during library hours&#8212;Sundays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/article\/art-and-law-meet-common-ground-social-justice-uh-law-library-exhibit\">William S.
