University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> Professor Ross Prizzia<\/strong> recently published Climate Change and Disaster Management<\/em><\/a> by Sentia Publishing.<\/p>\n

In Climate Change and Disaster Management<\/em>, he discusses how the Earth’s climate system is unequivocally warming, and it is extremely likely humans are causing most of it through activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The 20th century’s last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. Climate Change and Disaster Management<\/em> cites synthesis reports from scientific bodies that reveal undisputed facts about the Earth’s climate and conclude not only is climate change real, but that the rate of global warming caused by human activities is increasing.<\/p>\n

The book also covers topics related to climate change preparedness, response and recovery, adaptation and mitigation as well as the impact of climate change on sustainable development. Best practices of disaster resilience related to climate change are presented in the context of public policy and practice at the federal, state and local level in the United States and Asia Pacific region.<\/p>\n

About Ross Prizzia<\/h2>\n

Prizzia is professor of public administration and director of disaster preparedness and emergency management programs at UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>.<\/p>\n

He is the author of numerous journal articles, book chapters and four books, and also served as senior editor for the journal Risk, Hazards, and Crisis in Public Policy<\/em><\/a> and serves as peer reviewer for the Journal of Environmental Economics<\/em><\/a>, International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment<\/em><\/a> and the American Review of Public Administration<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
