2015 HI<\/abbr> Pride T-Shirt Design Contest winner Nikki Thomas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Bookstore System<\/a> kicks off the new school year with the release of its 2015 student-designed HI<\/abbr> Pride T-Shirt<\/a>. The winning design comes from University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> student Niki Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n

The annual HI<\/abbr> Pride T-Shirt Design Contest, now in its fourth year, is open to all UH<\/abbr> students each spring. Students are asked to submit designs that show what “HI<\/abbr> Pride” or “Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Pride” means to them. Semi-finalist designs are put online for a public vote.<\/p>\n

2015 winner Niki Thomas<\/strong> received 885 votes for her design that features a script typeface of “HI Pride” and the Hawaiian island chain. She says her design shows her appreciation of the “exceptional diversity of these islands.” Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Thomas is studying astronomy and biology at UH<\/abbr> Hilo.<\/p>\n

As the contest winner, Thomas will receive a $200 UH<\/abbr> Bookstores gift card, her very own HI Pride T-shirt and a $100 prize pack of school supplies from UH<\/abbr> Hilo Bookstore. Prizes will also go to Brandy Kahawai<\/strong> of Windward Community College for her runner-up design.<\/p>\n

HI<\/abbr> Pride T-shirts are printed in each UH<\/abbr> campus’ color and feature the words “University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>” to promote school spirit. Students receive a discount on their first 2015 HI<\/abbr> Pride T-shirt purchased with valid UH<\/abbr> student ID<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

HI<\/abbr> Pride T-shirts and official University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> licensed apparel may be purchased at any UH<\/abbr> Bookstore or online at www.bookstore.hawaii.edu<\/a>. All proceeds from UH<\/abbr> Bookstore purchases support the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
