The Office of Hawaiian Affairs<\/a> is providing a total of $896,232 to Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span><\/a> at the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> provides Native Hawaiian students kindergarten thru college with learning opportunities as a University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> center. Students have direct access to UH<\/abbr>’s facilities and faculty where they are guided and supported in their educational and career goals.<\/p>\n

Currently Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> has staff and offices at University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> campuses across the state—UH<\/abbr> Mānoa<\/a>, UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a>, Kauaʻi<\/span> CC<\/abbr><\/a> and UH<\/abbr> Maui College<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. Throughout the years the center has supported thousands of students in their educational and career goals and has made significant impacts in the recruitment and graduation of Native Hawaiian students at University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>’s campuses. In the fall of 2013, Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> graduates made up 9 percent of the Native Hawaiian students enrolled UH<\/abbr> and in the spring 2013 it was 13 percent.<\/p>\n

Along with the enrollment and graduation of Native Hawaiian students, Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> is also committed to creating opportunities and supporting Native Hawaiian students in STEM<\/abbr> (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and health career pathways. In the fall of 2013, Nā Pua Noʻeau<\/span> students made up 11 percent of all of the Native Hawaiian students enrolled in STEM<\/abbr> fields and 9 percent of all of the Native Hawaiian students enrolled in health fields in the UH<\/abbr> System.<\/p>\n
