Hosting is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacnashawaii.org\/regionalmeeting\"><span aria-label=\"Ilima\">&#699;Ilima<\/span> <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> chapter<\/a>, which was the winner of the Outstanding New Chapter Award in 2014. <\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> regional meeting highlight is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacnashawaii.org\/keynotes\/\">keynote speeches<\/a> from two distinguished guest presenters&#8212;Maggie Werner-Washburne, former <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> president and Regent&#8217;s Professor of Biology at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unm.edu\/\">University of New Mexico<\/a> and Ahna Skop, associate professor of genetics at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wisc.edu\/\">University of Wisconsin-Madison<\/a>. The regional meeting will also feature science symposium and career and professional development workshops. The three-day consortium will provide resources and inspiration to advance underrepresented minority <abbr>STEM<\/abbr> students and professionals in their education and careers.<\/p>\n<h2>Submitting abstracts<\/h2>\n<p>Undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs from science, technology, engineering or math disciplines are encouraged to submit an abstract to present their research by Friday, April 3, 2015, 5 p.m. Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacnashawaii.org\/abstract\/\"><abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> website<\/a> for more information on submitting and abstract. Awards will be distributed for exceptional presentations.<\/p>\n<h2>About <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr><\/h2>\n<p><abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> is the largest multicultural and multidisciplinary <abbr>STEM<\/abbr> diversity organization in the country with over 110 student chapters. Members of the <span aria-label=\"Ilima\">&#699;Ilima<\/span> <abbr>SACNAS<\/abbr> host chapter have won national awards for their outstanding scientific research presentations.
