Entomologist Steven Lee Montgomery will present “Using Science for Healthy Choices: Getting the Chemistry Right” on Thursday, February 12 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at Windward Community College<\/a>, Hale ʻImiloa<\/span> 111, as part of the Community Forum in Chemistry series.<\/p>\n

All natural resources exist in a delicate balance and everyone can play a part in conserving the native ecosystem. This talk is about fostering a healthy local environment by keeping pesticides out of the food chain, promoting bio-controls of weeds and insect pests, saving farm land and the bees.<\/p>\n

About Steven Lee Montgomery<\/h2>\n

Montgomery completed his MS<\/abbr> and PhD<\/abbr> entomology degrees from the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources<\/a>, University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa. Since then, he has worked in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> environmental biology, natural history video, bio-politics and honeybee services. He has volunteered with the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Natural Area and Land Use Commissions, Sierra Club<\/a> and ʻAhahui<\/span> Mālama I Ka Lokahi \/Hawaiians for the Conservation of Native Ecosystems<\/a>. He has served as a biological consultant on Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and the Pacific to landowners and government agencies. He has numerous publications and received several awards in environmental community service.<\/p>\n
