Fifty-four teams representing universities, community colleges, high schools and career technical schools across the U.S. participated in the annual competition.<\/p>\n<p>The week prior, Honolulu <abbr>CC<\/abbr> received first place honors as the outstanding student chapter in the National Association of Home Builders awards ceremony on January 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each year, chapters are recognized for their outstanding achievements in chapter and campus activities, community service projects, fundraising and other programs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> News story: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2015\/01\/20\/honolulu-ccs-construction-management-student-chapter-receives-top-honor\/\"><em>Honolulu <abbr>CC<\/abbr>&#8217;s construction management student chapter receives top honor<\/em><\/a>, January 20, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Honolulu <abbr>CC<\/abbr> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.honolulu.hawaii.edu\/cmgt\">construction management<\/a> student and <abbr>NAHB<\/abbr> chapter president Lana Moe was also recognized as an outstanding student at the awards ceremony.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Congratulations to the <abbr>NAHB<\/abbr> Student Chapter at Honolulu Community College,&rdquo; said Jerry Howard, <abbr>CEO<\/abbr> of <abbr>NAHB<\/abbr>. &ldquo;They and their competitors showed a great deal of talent, along with a depth of understanding of building industry management from land development to marketing to scheduling to estimating.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The <abbr>NAHB<\/abbr> student advisory board is proud that the <abbr>RCMC<\/abbr> has evolved into a prestigious event for the participants, their schools and the building industry,&rdquo; said Bill Faulk, chairman of the two-year competition committee for the <abbr>NAHB<\/abbr> student chapters advisory board.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Students will remember the competition for the rest of their lives.
