The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at MānoaÂ鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Athletics Department<\/a> is a significant part of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>’s economy according to a report produced by the Shidler College of Business<\/a>. In fiscal year 2013–14, the UH<\/abbr> Athletics Department generated $66 million in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> spending on labor, goods and services.<\/p>\n

The $66 million in spending in turn generated $128 million in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> business sales and $36.9 million in income for Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> workers. In addition, the $66 million of spending added $7 million to the state’s tax collections and created more than 860 jobs in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The report was commissioned by the UH<\/abbr> Mānoa Athletics Department and prepared by Shidler College of Business Administration graduate students Botir Okhunjanov<\/strong> and Conrad Mostiller<\/strong>, under the direct supervision of Professor of Business Economics Jack Suyderhoud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In fiscal year 2013–2014, the UH<\/abbr> Mānoa Athletics Department’s revenues from tickets and merchandise sales were more than $16 million, which makes the department among the top 215 largest companies in the state of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> by sales revenues. If the UH<\/abbr> Mānoa Athletics Department was measured by its total budget, it would be the 155th largest enterprise in the state.<\/p>\n
