The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa Department of Theatre and Dance<\/a> presents the second installment of this season’s Winter Footholds<\/em><\/a> series, showcasing new choreography by graduate and undergraduate dance students at the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre, January 28–31 at 8 p.m. and February 1 at 2 p.m. More than 40 student dancers, choreographers, technicians and designers have worked to create a concert that demonstrates the breadth of the department’s training. <\/p>\n

The Winter Footholds<\/em> concert, titled Echo<\/em>, focuses on the concepts of relationships, social change and the journey of life. The dance concert explores interdisciplinary collaboration including original music scores and video projection design. From choreography to lighting, dancing to sound, artists and technicians from all different walks of life join together to produce this art.<\/p>\n

The featured undergraduate senior project piece “The Journey,” choreographed by Roxy Takaesu<\/strong>, highlights the actual journey dancers take when choosing dance as a career, from the stressful competition of auditions to the pressures of rehearsals and performance.<\/p>\n
