Recent National Career Readiness Certificate recipients<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College<\/a> and the State of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Workforce Development Division<\/a> continue to collaborate in offering free Individualized Career Achievement Network (iCAN<\/abbr>) workshops in Waimea, Pāhala and Hilo. Designed for anyone interested in improving their reading, writing, math and workplace skills, the iCAN<\/abbr> workshops are a fast-paced way for employees and job seekers to improve their employability skills.<\/p>\n

Open to anyone over 18 at no charge, whether or not they have a high school diploma, these self-paced iCAN<\/abbr> workshops prepare students for the workforce as they pursue a National Career Readiness Certificate<\/a> (NCRC<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

NCRC<\/abbr> has been recognized as the most effective strategy for certifying workplace skills and predicting workplace success. “I am really enjoying all of it. The teachers are great!” said iCAN<\/abbr> trainee Angel K. “I am looking forward to taking the NCRC<\/abbr> exam.”<\/p>\n

Classes are continuously being held in Hilo, Pāhala and Waimea with ongoing enrollment in each program. “You can join anytime at any one of our locations island-wide,” said Program Coordinator Carolina Sborja.<\/p>\n

These workshops are made available through a grant awarded under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training<\/a> Grants (C3T<\/abbr>). These industry-focused, employer-driven programs are designed to increase college completion rates and provide job opportunities to the C3T<\/abbr> participants.<\/p>\n
