Designed for anyone interested in improving their reading, writing, math and workplace skills, the <abbr>iCAN<\/abbr> workshops are a fast-paced way for employees and job seekers to improve their employability skills.<\/p>\n<p>Open to anyone over 18 at no charge, whether or not they have a high school diploma, these self-paced <abbr>iCAN<\/abbr> workshops prepare students for the workforce as they pursue a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/products\/workforce-act-national-career-readiness-certificate\/\">National Career Readiness Certificate<\/a> (<abbr>NCRC<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p><abbr>NCRC<\/abbr> has been recognized as the most effective strategy for certifying workplace skills and predicting workplace success. &ldquo;I am really enjoying all of it. The teachers are great!&rdquo; said <abbr>iCAN<\/abbr> trainee Angel K. &ldquo;I am looking forward to taking the <abbr>NCRC<\/abbr> exam.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Classes are continuously being held in Hilo, P&#257;hala and Waimea with ongoing enrollment in each program. &ldquo;You can join anytime at any one of our locations island-wide,&rdquo; said Program Coordinator Carolina Sborja.<\/p>\n<p>These workshops are made available through a grant awarded under the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doleta.gov\/taaccct\/\">Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training<\/a> Grants (<abbr>C3T<\/abbr>).
