{"id":26013,"date":"2014-07-14T10:12:20","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T20:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=26013"},"modified":"2021-10-29T09:37:29","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T19:37:29","slug":"travel-industry-management-honor-society-receives-distinction-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2014\/07\/14\/travel-industry-management-honor-society-receives-distinction-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel industry management honor society receives distinction award"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M&#257;noa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tim.hawaii.edu\/default.aspx\">School of Travel Industry Management&#8217;s<\/a> Eta Sigma Delta (<abbr>ESD<\/abbr>) student chapter of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrie.org\/esd-honor-society\/index.aspx\">International Hospitality Management Honor Society<\/a> joined two other chapters in winning the honor of Chapter of Distinction for the 2013&#8211;14 academic year. Associate Professor <strong>Ingrid Lin<\/strong>, the <abbr>ESD<\/abbr> advisor, will accept the award on Friday, August 1 at the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education&#8217;s summer conference in San Diego, California.<\/p>\n<p>A number of initiatives in community service, mentorship and service to the School of Travel Industry Management were launched this year. <abbr>ESD<\/abbr> spearheaded the school&#8217;s Relay for Life team, which raised about $1,200 for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cancer.org\/\">American Cancer Society<\/a>.
