A new scoreboard overlooks the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo<\/a> softball<\/a> field. The scoreboard, in the red-and-black colors of the UH<\/abbr> Hilo Vulcans, was sponsored by KTA<\/abbr> Super Stores<\/a> in partnership with the Â鶹´«Ã½Hilo Office of Athletics<\/a> and Vulcan Athletic Club<\/a>, and installed by Hirayama Brothers Electric.<\/p>\n

“The timing was perfect—the old scoreboard was on its last legs after more than a decade,” said Tim Moore<\/strong>, UH<\/abbr> Hilo interim director athletics. “We are very thankful and appreciative of KTA<\/abbr> Super Stores’ continued support of our programs and the Big Island’s athletic community throughout the history of Vulcans Athletics.”<\/p>\n

KTA<\/abbr> also sponsors an ongoing fundraiser for all UH<\/abbr> Hilo sports. The annual Score for Scholarships campaign encourages college athletes to do what they do best: play hard and win hard! During each home game KTA<\/abbr> donates money per point scored to the UH<\/abbr> Hilo Office of Intercollegiate Athletics. So far this year, the campaign has raised $8,900.<\/p>\n
