  {"id":24362,"date":"2014-04-29T14:01:17","date_gmt":"2014-04-30T00:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=24362"},"modified":"2020-05-14T15:25:58","modified_gmt":"2020-05-15T01:25:58","slug":"uhs-15-to-finish-campaign-featured-in-national-webinar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2014\/04\/29\/uhs-15-to-finish-campaign-featured-in-national-webinar\/","title":{"rendered":"<abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr>\u2019s 15 to Finish campaign featured in national webinar"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>&#8217;s<\/a> highly successful <a href=\"http:\/\/15tofinish.com\/\">15 to Finish<\/a> promotional campaign took the national spotlight today when <a href=\"http:\/\/completecollege.org\/\">Complete College America<\/a> featured the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> program in a national webinar on Tuesday, April 29.<\/p>\n<p>The 15 to Finish campaign encourages students to take 15 or more credits each semester and graduate on time&#8212;two years for an associates degree and four years for a baccalaureate degree&#8212;saving time and money. Nationally, on-time degree completion rates are at 19 percent for those seeking four-year degrees and four percent for those seeking two-year degrees.<\/p>\n<p><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>&#8217;s aggressive advertising campaign resulted in significant increases in the number of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> freshmen statewide taking 15 or more credits.  Complementary campus strategies also contributed to the increases. In the fall of 2011, 16 percent of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> freshmen took 15 or more credits, compared to 28 percent two years later, following the 15 to Finish campaign. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa alone saw the numbers rise from 38 to 61 percent from fall 2011 to fall 2013.<\/p>\n<p><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>&#8217;s 15 to Finish program has been adopted by institutions of higher education across the country.
