Chen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"clear-photo\">On the evening of Monday, April 14, a lunar eclipse will be visible in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifa.hawaii.edu\/homepage\/\">Institute for Astronomy<\/a> will holding two free viewing events at <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Park in Waik&#299;k&#299; and next to the <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.sdp.sirsi.net\/client\/default\/rw$003d0$0026rm$003dKAHUKU$002bPUBLIC$002b0$00257C$00257C$00257C1$00257C$00257C$00257C0$00257C$00257C$00257Ctrue$0026pv$003d-1$0026ic$003dfalse$0026dt$003dlist$0026sm$003dfalse$0026\">Kahuku Public Library<\/a>, 7&#8211;11:30 p.m. Members of the public will have the opportunity to see the eclipsed moon and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars.<\/p>\n<p>Although the eclipse will start at 6:53 p.m. <abbr>HST<\/abbr>, it will not be visible until 7:58 p.m. The most interesting part, when the Moon will be very dark and possibly blood red, will take place at 9:06&#8211;10:24 p.m. Although the eclipse will take place on April 15 in many other parts of the world, in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> it will occur on April 14 because of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>&#8217;s time zone.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Celestial events like this eclipse are a great opportunity for us astronomers to reach out to the community, especially here in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>, where knowledge of the night sky is an integral part of the culture and history,&rdquo; said <strong>Roy Gal<\/strong>, Institute for Astronomy outreach coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We love to get people looking up and thinking about our connection to the rest of the universe,&rdquo; said Gal. He pointed out that this is an unusual year in that there will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bishopmuseum.org\/planetarium\/highlights2014.html\">another total lunar eclipse<\/a> visible in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> October 7&#8211;8.<\/p>\n<h2>Viewing locations<\/h2>\n<p>The <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Park event will happen on Soccer Field 5, which is located on P&#257;k&#299; Avenue near the corner of Monsarrat Avenue.
