Photo courtesy: Cherry Blossom Festival<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>University of <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa public health and nursing alumna Aime Le has been crowned the 74th Cherry Blossom Festival Queen, one of <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s longest-running ethnic festivals hosted annually by the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce. Her fellow contestants also voted her Miss Congeniality in recognition of her compassion, professionalism and interpersonal leadership.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_235384\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-235384\" style=\"width: 213px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-AimeHemmiLe-cherry-blossom-headshot-213x300.jpg\" alt=\"Aime Hemmi Le \" width=\"213\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-235384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-AimeHemmiLe-cherry-blossom-headshot-213x300.jpg 213w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-AimeHemmiLe-cherry-blossom-headshot-92x130.jpg 92w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-AimeHemmiLe-cherry-blossom-headshot.jpg 249w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-235384\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aime Le (Photo courtesy: Cherry Blossom Festival)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;As queen, I serve as a cultural ambassador representing <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> through community service, educational outreach and cultural exchange programs locally and internationally,&rdquo; said Le.<\/p>\n<p>Le earned dual bachelor\u2019s degrees in <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/\">public health <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/japanese-studies\/\">Japanese<\/a> in 2020 and a bachelor of science in nursing in 2022. She was also inducted into the Japanese National Honor Society&#8211;College Chapter for academic excellence in Japanese language studies.<\/p>\n<p>During her time at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, Le participated in student leadership and service organizations including Mortar Board National Honor Society, Hui Ola Pono Public Health Club, <abbr>HOSA<\/abbr>-Future Health Professionals and Atherton <abbr>YMCA<\/abbr> community programs. She also took part in medical mission and service-learning trips to the Philippines and <span lang=\"haw\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> and completed a rural clinical rotation in Yap, Micronesia.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My time in Yap further strengthened my appreciation for community-centered healthcare and cross-cultural connection,&rdquo; Le said.<\/p>\n<h2>Supporting k\u016bpuna through community care<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_235388\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-235388\" style=\"width: 218px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-le-aime-cherry-blossom-ceremony-218x300.jpg\" alt=\"le and former queen\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-235388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-le-aime-cherry-blossom-ceremony-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-le-aime-cherry-blossom-ceremony-94x130.jpg 94w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/manoa-le-aime-cherry-blossom-ceremony.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-235388\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Photo courtesy: Cherry Blossom Festival)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now a nurse practitioner, Le earned her <a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.hawaii.edu\/doctor-of-nursing-practice\/\">doctor of nursing practice<\/a> degree in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track from the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa in spring 2025. In fall 2025 and spring 2026, Le volunteered with the Memory Caf\u00e9 at the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Center on Aging, a free monthly garden-based program for people living with memory loss and their care partners.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;At the Memory Caf\u00e9, I can help support dementia-friendly spaces for k\u016bpuna and caregivers through nature-based activities, social connection and community engagement,&rdquo; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Le hopes to continue bridging healthcare, culture and community service throughout her career while advocating for compassionate, inclusive care across generations.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are so privileged to have someone like Aime be a part of the Memory Caf\u00e9,&rdquo; said Christy Nishita, a gerontologist with the Center on Aging. &ldquo;The combination of her personal qualities and professional training has made her the ideal volunteer. She has helped to nurture not only our garden but also the growth of human relationships among students, staff and community participants.
