They are part of the University of <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>&#8216;s Office of Indigenous Knowledge and Innovation, which has established several Indigenous Data Hubs (<abbr>IDH<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>In one vital project, students are partnering with the nonprofit <span lang=\"haw\">I Ola Wailuanui<\/span> to aid in the restoration of <span lang=\"haw\">Malaeha&#699;akoa heiau<\/span>. This opens up exciting opportunities for our students.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Chock, who also teaches agriculture and natural science courses through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2025\/08\/12\/kauai-cc-internship-inspires-next-generation-of-stewards\/\"><span lang=\"haw\">N&#257; Pua No&#699;eau<\/span><\/a> (a pre-K&#8211;college enrichment program), emphasized the importance of connecting education directly to community needs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think the future of education must be holistic,&rdquo; Chock said. &ldquo;It can&rsquo;t be siloed into singular disciplines.
