A prominent leader in advancing <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>-grounded initiatives across the 10-campus system for more than two decades, Lipe has been selected as the new <span lang=\"haw\">po&#699;o<\/span> kula (head of school) at Ke Kula <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;o<\/span> Kamehameha ma <span lang=\"haw\">Kap&#257;lama<\/span> (Kamehameha Schools <span lang=\"haw\">Kap&#257;lama<\/span>), where she will support and serve students and educators across the K\u201312 campus.<\/p>\n<p>Her <abbr>UH<\/abbr> service spans key leadership roles having also served as director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/ihlrt\/\">Institute for Hawaiian Language Research and Translation<\/a>, and director of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/nhpol\/trht\/\">Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>UH<\/abbr> has always held a special place in my life,&rdquo; said Lipe, a graduate of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa and Kamehameha Schools. &ldquo;This community raised me, and it has been the greatest honor of my professional life to work alongside all of you. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> nurtured my growth and strengthened my commitment to <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;ike<\/span> <span lang=\"haw\">k&#363;puna<\/span> (ancestral knowledge), to <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;&#257;ina<\/span> (land), and to the relationships that guide our work. She also earned a master\u2019s in counseling psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu. Lipe\u2019s work at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> has spanned campuses, helping integrate <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;ike<\/span> <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> (Hawaiian knowledge) across strategic plans, campus culture, programs and initiatives. In my time working alongside her, she helped deepen my understanding of <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;ike<\/span> <span lang=\"haw\">k&#363;puna<\/span>, our responsibilities to <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;&#257;ina<\/span>, and the importance of connection in all that we do.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Work continues<\/h2>\n<p>The office that Lipe has built will continue the work of advancing <abbr>UH<\/abbr>\u2019s active commitment to becoming grounded and reflective of <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>.
