Darwin Day 2026 honored the importance of evolution and science in daily life showcasing a dynamic range of research from across the islands.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/manoa-ctahr-darwin-day-4-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"butterflies\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-229768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/manoa-ctahr-darwin-day-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/manoa-ctahr-darwin-day-4-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/manoa-ctahr-darwin-day-4.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Scientists from the Kewalo Marine Laboratory showcased &ldquo;tide pool critters,&rdquo; including corals and various marine invertebrates.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Darwin Day is about raising awareness of how science has a positive impact on everybody\u2019s lives,&rdquo; said Dan Rubinoff, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Insect Museum director and <abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr> professor. &ldquo;It\u2019s really fun for us because it\u2019s collaborative.
