And while blindness shapes how I move through the world, it has also shown me that accessibility is how we make the invisible visible, how we bring everyone into the circle.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Every one of us has our own &lsquo;muggle struggle.&rsquo; One of mine just happens to be vision loss. But the lesson underneath it is the same: we all face barriers that try to convince us we don\u2019t belong somewhere magical,&rdquo; Quibol added. &ldquo;The truth is, belonging is something we build together; through accessibility, through understanding, through community.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Mulitauaopele spoke about finding confidence and belonging through her educational journey at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span lang=\"haw\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span lang=\"haw\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> did not just teach me business, or data or leadership&#8212;it taught me that my voice belongs in rooms I used to be afraid to enter,&rdquo; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I believe that starts the moment you finally get honest with yourself and decide to own your story. Because your story does not become powerful when it looks impressive to others. It becomes powerful when you believe it matters. And <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span lang=\"haw\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> met me exactly where I was&#8212;online, juggling life, work and school. It didn\u2019t just give me an education. It gave me a real chance to finish what I started.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Heartfelt moment for Chancellor Benham<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_227162\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-227162\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/west-oahu-fall-2025-commencement-benham-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Benham speaking at commencement\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-227162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/west-oahu-fall-2025-commencement-benham-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/west-oahu-fall-2025-commencement-benham-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/west-oahu-fall-2025-commencement-benham.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-227162\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chancellor Maenette Benham<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The ceremony also marked a significant milestone for Chancellor Maenette Benham, who presided over her final commencement before stepping down at the end of the year, marking nearly a decade of leadership.<\/p>\n<p>In her remarks, Benham shared the <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;\u014clelo<\/span> <span lang=\"haw\">No&#699;eau<\/span>, &ldquo;<span lang=\"haw\">&#699;O<\/span> ka <span lang=\"haw\">pi&#699;i<\/span> n\u014d ia a K\u014dk\u012b O Wailau,&rdquo; a saying used in admiration for someone who reaches the summit despite great difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Indeed, <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;O<\/span> ka <span lang=\"haw\">pi&#699;i<\/span> n\u014d ia a K\u014dk\u012b O Wailau&#8212;we stand in admiration of you,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;You have adapted and grown during these unprecedented times of change and adversity.
