Led by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (<abbr>DBEDT<\/abbr>) and the Agribusiness Development Corporation (<abbr>ADC<\/abbr>), the project brings together the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M&#257;noa <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience<\/a> (<abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr>) and the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community College System with other state agencies.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The food hub is an important step on the path to <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s food self-sufficiency and we are honored to contribute,&rdquo; said <abbr>CTAHR<\/abbr> Dean Parwinder Grewal. &ldquo;It will be helping farmers and entrepreneurs manufacture their innovative food products from local fruits, vegetables, and proteins.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Whitmore Village complex will serve as an innovation base to provide manufacturing and industry services at a commercial scale, boost local food sustainability, and enable local entrepreneurs to export globally.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;From Kona to Kekaha, and Hilo to H&#257;na, the Food and Product Innovation Network can strengthen <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s local food systems and economy for generations to come,&rdquo; said Senate Ways and Means Chair Donovan Dela Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>Other partners in the complex include the <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Department of Education (<abbr>HIDOE<\/abbr>) and the Department of Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the complex in Whitmore Village, <abbr>HIDOE<\/abbr> is constructing a Central <span lang=\"haw\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Regional Kitchen on <abbr>ADC<\/abbr>&#8211;owned land.
