\"Â鶹´«Ã½placekicker<\/p>\n

University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa football<\/a> placekicker Kansei Matsuzawa has been named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2025 Lou Groza Collegiate Award.<\/p>\n

Matsuzawa in the midst of a record-breaking season, going a perfect 22-for-22 on field goals while setting a UH<\/abbr> football record for single-season field goals, making him one of only three FBS<\/abbr> kickers still without a miss. In October, he was selected to numerous midseason All-America teams including the Associated Press, The Athletic, Athlon Sports, CBS<\/abbr> Sports, Sports Illustrated and the Sporting News.<\/p>\n

Nicknamed the “Tokyo Toe,” Matsuzawa has gained national attention for his remarkable journey in Division I<\/abbr> football. His story has been highlighted by major outlets including CNN<\/abbr>, ESPN<\/abbr>, NBC<\/abbr>Nightly News, The Athletic, the Wall Street Journal and numerous Japanese media.<\/p>\n

Matsuzawa is the Rainbow Warriors\u2019 first Lou Groza semifinalist since Matthew Shipley in 2021 and 2023. Three finalists will be announced November 25 with the winner announced live on ESPN<\/abbr> on December 12.<\/p>\n
