Lorenzo Perillo, blends movement, music and history into a fast-moving tribute to identity and community. Performances run through November 23, on the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/kennedy-theatre\/\">Kennedy Theatre<\/a> Mainstage at the University of <span lang=\"haw\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa.<\/p>\n<p>Perillo serves as co-director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/philippine-studies\/\">Center for Philippine Studies<\/a> (<abbr>CPS<\/abbr>) and is also an associate professor in the Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/liveonstage\/\">Theatre and Dance at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/a>. Live kulintang (traditional Filipino gong instrument) and Tahitian music set the tone. The dances explore home, identity and the journey of carrying culture across oceans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiiathletics.evenue.net\/events\/KT1\">Ticket prices range from $9 to $25<\/a> for the in-person production at Kennedy Theatre. Building on that work, the production features Farrington High School students who have been rehearsing since September with their teacher Michelle Levine Aquino, a recent <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa graduate, to perform a piece rooted in Philippine games and street dance. Representation matters.
