University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa quarterback Micah Alejado is one of 14 semifinalists for the seventh annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, presented to the outstanding freshman in college football by the Maxwell Football Club.<\/p>\n

Alejado leads the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS<\/abbr>) with an average of 28.43 completions per game and ranks No.<\/abbr> 2 in the Mountain West and No.<\/abbr> 5 nationally with 303.4 passing yards per game. He is also seventh nationally in total offense, averaging 314.5 yards per game.<\/p>\n

In seven games played, Alejado has thrown for more than 300 yards four times, including twice more than 400 yards, becoming the first Rainbow Warrior quarterback with consecutive 400-yard passing games since Cole McDonald in 2018. The redshirt freshman has completed 65.9 percent of his attempts this season with 2,124 yards and 15 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Finalists will be announced on December 3, and the winner will be revealed on December 30.<\/p>\n

The award is named in honor of Shaun Alexander, a former standout at the University of Alabama and with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n
