The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> football team earned a milestone victory after defeating Colorado State (31-19) October 18, in Fort Collins, Colorado. With its third straight win, Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> improved to 6-2 overall (3-1 in the Mountain West Conference) and gained bowl eligibility for the first time under Head Coach Timmy Chang.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Warriors racked up 435 yards of offense while the defense held the Rams to just 261 yards, and six sacks.<\/p>\n

Micah Alejado threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns with sophomore Jackson Harris hauling in five catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> extended its lead to 24-7 when Kansei Matsuzawa, the “Tokyo Toe,” nailed a 26-yard field goal late in the third quarter. In the process, the Japan-native set a new UH<\/abbr> record with 21 straight field goals made dating back to last season, surpassing UH<\/abbr> great Jason Elam who made 20 straight in 1989. Elam was in attendance to witness the record-breaking moment and met up with the kicker after the game.<\/p>\n

The Warriors were able to hold off a late surge by Colorado State to distance themselves in the end.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Warriors will now have their second bye week of the month and next return to the field on Saturday, November 2, for a road matchup at San Jose State. <\/p>\n
