It stars <em>Police Academy\u2019s<\/em> Lance Kinsey as Oscar, along with the up-and-coming Cole Massie as Oscar\u2019s son Billy&#8212;both of whom were recognized for their roles.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What makes <em>Paper Bag Plan<\/em> unique is that it redefines the superhero story&#8212;sometimes heroes don\u2019t lift cars, they lift their children.&rdquo; said Lucero. &ldquo;I want this film to stick with people. I want people to contact their family members&#8212;their mother, their father, or their child, and just reach out to them.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Consolidated Theatres Ward will be showing the film September 18&#8211;25, with the possibility of future shows based on reception. Some of her most notable contributions have been to series such as <em>Baywatch<\/em> and <em>America\u2019s Got Talent<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_221531\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-221531\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/manoa-alumni-kealohi-lucero-studio-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Lucero manning camera equipment in the Hawaii Public Television studio\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-221531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/manoa-alumni-kealohi-lucero-studio-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/manoa-alumni-kealohi-lucero-studio-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/manoa-alumni-kealohi-lucero-studio.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-221531\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lucero\u2019s internship at <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Public Television Station kickstarted her career in the media industry.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, she got her foot in the door as an intern for the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Public Television station where she soon made her way to being their youngest live director.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I fell in love with all of it,&rdquo; said Lucero. &ldquo;I spent every waking moment in that studio.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This hands-on experience complemented her studies at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, where she earned her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in communication. Lucero was also fascinated with the business side of the industry&#8212;which her <abbr>UH<\/abbr> classes helped her to understand&#8212;as well as production.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_221527\" creatively with like-minded people in my classes was really helpful,&rdquo; said Lucero. &ldquo;I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today had I not gone to <abbr>UH<\/abbr>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Passion project<\/h2>\n<p>While Lucero is still behind-the-scenes on larger scale productions, she has personally helmed feature films such as <em>Paper Bag Plan<\/em>, which she produced with her husband Anthony, the project\u2019s director.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We wanted to be unique and tell an original story, not just follow another manufactured formula,&rdquo; said Lucero.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike many box office productions that focus on drawing crowds in with big names, <em>Paper Bag Plan<\/em> takes a small idea and turns it into an epic story, while highlighting people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>To
