Fifteen high school students from a STEM<\/abbr>-focused girls\u2019 school in Tokyo traveled to Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> not just to learn—but to help tackle some of the islands\u2019 toughest social and environmental issues, from reef-safe sunscreen to houselessness.<\/p>\n

In July 2025, the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship<\/a> (PACE<\/abbr>) collaborated with Very50, a Japan-based social enterprise accelerator, to bring the group of students from Toshimagaoka Girls\u2019 School to Oʻahu<\/span>. The partnership provided a cross-cultural and problem-solving learning experience for both the students from Japan, as well as students from UH<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

The week-long, rigorous PACE<\/abbr> X Very50 collaboration encouraged students to use STEM<\/abbr> skills to solve social and climate issues in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>. Three student teams tackled:<\/p>\n
