He utilized a Twilio <abbr>API<\/abbr>&#8217;s to allow students to receive text messages when new course announcements or exams are created. Students could also set goals for their classes and professors could see how the class is doing at reaching their goals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackerleague.org\/hackathons\/pearson-student-coding-contest\/hacks\/mike-purvis\">Go the Pearson Coding Contest website for more on Purvis&#8217; entry.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pearson is a leading learning company that partners with faculty and institutions to create innovative solutions to improve student achievement and institutional effectiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Purvis was also part of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo team that won the 2013 Imagine Cup U.S. Finals.
