The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa<\/a> continues to earn a place among the top universities worldwide for academic, research, faculty and sustainability excellence, according to the 2026 edition of the QS<\/abbr> World University Rankings<\/a> released June 19 by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa ranked No<\/abbr>. 77 among U.S. institutions (out of more than 2,600 4-year institutions<\/a>) and No<\/abbr>. 546 globally (out of more than 25,000 worldwide colleges and universities<\/a>). This places UH<\/abbr>\u2019s flagship campus in the top 2.2% worldwide and the top 3% nationally.<\/p>\n

“This ranking reflects UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s commitment to providing a world-class education and conducting impactful research,” UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno said. “It celebrates the hard work of our faculty, students and staff who continually elevate the university\u2019s impact locally and globally.”<\/p>\n

QS<\/abbr> rated universities on the following criteria: academic reputation (30%), citations per faculty (20%), employer reputation (15%), faculty student ratio (10%), international faculty (5%), international students (5%), sustainability (5%), employment outcomes (5%) and international research network (5%).<\/p>\n

In its 2025 World University Rankings by Subject released in March, QS<\/abbr> also awarded high marks to more than 20 UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa programs. Leading the way was linguistics, which earned a No<\/abbr>. 11 ranking in the U.S. and No<\/abbr>. 40 ranking in the world. Library and information management (No<\/abbr>. 17 U.S., No<\/abbr>. 51–100 world) and Earth and marine sciences (No<\/abbr>. 20 U.S., No<\/abbr>. 51–100 world) also placed within the top 100 in the world.
