The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa Athletics Department held its 12th annual H Awards on April 30, at the Stan Sheriff Center, celebrating the 2024–25 season’s athletic and academic achievements.<\/p>\n

The top honor, the Jack Bonham Award, went to football’s<\/a> Brayden Schager and, in a tie, women\u2019s basketball\u2019s<\/a> Lily Wahinekapu and water polo\u2019s<\/a> Jordan Wedderburn. The award is presented to the top male and female senior student-athletes who best exemplify the ideals for athletic excellence, academic achievement, public service, leadership and character.<\/p>\n

The Jennifer Matsuda Award, the department’s top academic honor, was given to Alex Parks of men\u2019s volleyball, Izzy Ayala from women\u2019s soccer, and Lilian Turban for track and field, each holding near-perfect grade point averages (GPA<\/abbr>). Parks is majoring in finance with a 3.97 GPA<\/abbr>. Ayala, a sophomore midfielder, has a 3.99 GPA<\/abbr> while majoring in kinesiology and rehabilitation science and a minor in public health. Turban has a 3.99 GPA<\/abbr> as a communication major.<\/p>\n

The top team academic awards went to men’s golf, women’s golf and women’s tennis. Men’s golf earned a cumulative 3.63 GPA<\/abbr> to claim the honor for the second straight year. Women’s tennis has a 3.70 cumulative GPA<\/abbr> and won the women’s team award for the third time in the last four years. Women’s golf posted a team semester GPA<\/abbr> of 3.64 and earned the highest semester GPA<\/abbr> among the 21 sports teams.<\/p>\n
