ʻĀina<\/span> to Mākeke cohort five entrepreneurs present locally-made products at the Wahiawā Value-Added Product Development Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fifteen local entrepreneurs debuted their Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>-made food products to a crowd of nearly 150 at Leeward Community College\u2019s Wahiawā Value-Added Product Development Center<\/a> (WVAPDC<\/abbr>) on April 30. The ʻĀina<\/span> to Mākeke Showcase marked the culmination of a 12-week food business course and the one-year anniversary of WVAPDC<\/abbr>\u2019s opening<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This showcase is a powerful reminder of the impact education can have when it\u2019s connected directly to community and opportunity,” said Leeward CC<\/abbr> Chancellor Carlos Pe\u00f1aloza.<\/p>\n

“WVAPDC<\/abbr> represents the best of what we strive for at Leeward CC<\/abbr>: innovation, access and real-world outcomes.”<\/p>\n

\"\"The ʻĀina<\/span> program, run by Leeward CC<\/abbr>\u2019s Office of Workforce Development in partnership with the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Ag & Culinary Alliance, equips aspiring food entrepreneurs to scale home recipes into market-ready products using locally sourced ingredients.<\/p>\n

“What we\u2019re building here at WVAPDC<\/abbr> is bigger than a food production facility\u2014it\u2019s a movement,” said WVAPDC<\/abbr> Manager Chris Bailey. “Watching cohort five grow their businesses and step into the market with confidence is exactly why this center exists. Their success is our community\u2019s success.”<\/p>\n

The showcase included Bake You a Smile<\/a>, Chef Friend Hawaii by Nami Kaze<\/a>, Daguzan Charcuterie<\/a>, Grok Coffee<\/a>, Hapa Hawaiian Salts<\/a>, Huli-Huli Chicken LLC<\/abbr><\/a>, Kiʻikiʻi<\/span> Farm Provisions<\/a>, Madres Churros<\/a>, Mana-Su LLC<\/abbr><\/a>, Nui Kealoha<\/a>, Onomea Farm Hub<\/a>, Pineapple Road Beverage Co.<\/a>, Red Sea Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Connection LLC<\/abbr><\/a>, The Doggy Kitchen<\/a> and uCook Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> LLC<\/abbr><\/a>. Cohort five joins 60+ past graduates, many of whom now sell in major retailers such as 7-Eleven, Foodland, and Down to Earth.<\/p>\n

\"\"Sen. Donovan M. Dela Cruz presented WVAPDC<\/abbr> with a certificate from the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Senate to celebrate the Center\u2019s achievements over the last year.<\/p>\n

“This facility has, in just one year, transformed the landscape for local food entrepreneurs, farmers, and students across our islands,” said Dela Cruz. “This Center embodies our shared vision for economic resilience and diversification in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>.”<\/p>\n
