The <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (<abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr>) also placed in the nation\u2019s top tier (tier 1) for best medical schools for primary care.<\/p>\n<p>The highest ranked programs were in the <a href=\"https:\/\/law.hawaii.edu\/\">William S. Richardson School of Law<\/a>, ranking <abbr title=\"Number\">No<\/abbr>. 16 for best part-time law programs, <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 36 for best environmental law programs and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 45 for best international law programs. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/\">Library and Information Science Program<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/socialsciences.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Social Sciences<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 36. <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 41 for most graduates practicing in primary care and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 47 for most graduates practicing in rural areas, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.hawaii.edu\/\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 43 for best nursing schools, doctor of nursing practice.<\/p>\n<p>Rankings were based on different criteria, including research activity (publications and citations), placement success (employment and earnings), quality assessment (peer and recruiter assessments), student selectivity (<abbr title=\"Grade Point Average\">GPA<\/abbr> and test scores) and faculty resources (doctoral degrees awarded and student to faculty ratio).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These latest rankings from <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em> reflect <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and impactful research,&rdquo; said <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno. &ldquo;They speak to the strength of our graduate programs and the hard work of our faculty, students and staff. <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> residents can take pride in knowing that their flagship university continues to shape the next generation of leaders, educators and innovators for our state and beyond.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Note: not all programs are ranked every year. Richardson School of Law<\/h2>\n<p>The William S. Richardson School of Law was ranked in 15 categories by <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em>. Burns School of Medicine<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> was one of 16 schools that placed in the nation\u2019s top tier (tier 1) for best medical schools for primary care. <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> also placed in tier 2 for best medical schools for research.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 41 for most graduates practicing in primary care, <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 47 for most graduates practicing in rural areas and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 166 for most graduates practicing in medically underserved areas. <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> also placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 155 for speech language pathology. <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/news-events\/news\/2025\/04\/jabsom-2025-usnews-ranking.html\">Read more at the <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"nursing\">School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/h2>\n<p>The School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene\u2019s doctor of nursing practice (<abbr>DNP<\/abbr>) program was ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 43 among 158 of the top schools in <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em>\u2019s best nursing schools ranking. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s nursing school is the only <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> <abbr>DNP<\/abbr> program ranked by <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em> since 2018.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"education\">College of Education<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/coe.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Education<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 65 of 258 schools ranked, the 20th straight year the college has been listed as one of the nation\u2019s top 100 education programs. Nationally accredited since 2000, the College of Education continues to be recognized for its award-winning programs and people.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"engineering\">College of Engineering<\/h2>\n<p>Four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Engineering<\/a> graduate programs were ranked among the best in the nation, according to <em>U.S. News<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ee.hawaii.edu\/\">Electrical engineering<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 90; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cee.hawaii.edu\/\">civil engineering<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 91; and <a href=\"https:\/\/me.hawaii.edu\/\">mechanical engineering<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 124. The College of Engineering ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 163 among the top engineering schools in the U.S. that grant doctoral degrees.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"business\">Shidler College of Business<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shidler.hawaii.edu\/\">Shidler College of Business<\/a> rose 29 spots to <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 137 out of 241 ranked schools for its part-time master of business administration (<abbr>MBA<\/abbr>) program. Shidler\u2019s <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> programs are the only <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> programs in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and among the few <abbr>MBA<\/abbr> programs in the U.S. with a true Asia-Pacific focus.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"social\">College of Social Sciences<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the Library and Information Science Program ranking <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 36, the College of Social Sciences had the following programs placed in the latest <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em> rankings: <a href=\"https:\/\/psychology.manoa.hawaii.edu\/clinical-psychology\/\">clinical psychology<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 78, <a href=\"https:\/\/puba.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">public administration<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 82, <a href=\"https:\/\/sociology.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">sociology<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 104, <a href=\"https:\/\/politicalscience.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">political science<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 107, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economics.hawaii.edu\/\">economics<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 113 and <a href=\"https:\/\/psychology.manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">psychology<\/a> at <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 124.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"public\">Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/\">Department of Public Health Sciences<\/a> ranked <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 99 out of 219 public health schools and programs in the U.S. accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Department of Public Health Sciences offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/academics\/degrees\/bachelor-of-arts\/\">bachelor in arts in public health<\/a>; a <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/graduate\/master-of-public-health\">master in public health<\/a>, with specializations in <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/specializations\/epidemiology\">epidemiology<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/specializations\/health-policy-and-management\">health policy and management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/specializations\/native-hawaiian-and-indigenous-health\">Native Hawaiian and Indigenous health<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/specializations\/social-and-behavioral-health-sciences\">social and behavioral health sciences<\/a>, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/graduate\/master-of-science-in-public-health\">master of science specializing in epidemiology<\/a>, as well as <abbr>PhD<\/abbr> program in <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/doctoral\/phd-in-public-health\">public health<\/a>, specializing in community-based and translational research and a <abbr>PhD<\/abbr> in <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/publichealth\/degrees\/doctoral\/phd-in-epidemiology\">epidemiology<\/a>.
