Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College\u2019s Legal Education Program<\/a> is the first paralegal program in the U.S. to partner with Wickard.ai<\/a> to integrate artificial intelligence (AI<\/abbr>) education into its curriculum. Students and faculty are gaining specialized training in AI<\/abbr> applications for the legal field—in an industry-leading initiative.<\/p>\n

The pilot program provides faculty and select students with free access to Wickard.ai\u2019s certification course, offering a deep dive into large language models, AI<\/abbr>-powered legal tools, and emerging regulations. Plans are already in place to expand access to all paralegal students.<\/p>\n

“This certification represents a groundbreaking step forward for paralegal education,” said Kimberly Koide Iwao, Legal Education Program coordinator. “As AI<\/abbr> continues to reshape the legal industry, it is essential that paralegals gain the skills to work effectively with and alongside these technologies.”<\/p>\n

With Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s only American Bar Association-approved paralegal program, Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> has advanced workforce innovation. Chancellor Misaki Takabayashi sees this AI<\/abbr> integration as a next step.<\/p>\n

“Our Paralegal Program has always led the frontline of innovation,” said Takabayashi. “I hope this is the first of many areas where we partner with the AI<\/abbr> industry to prepare our Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> learners to be at the cutting edge of workforce transformation.”<\/p>\n

The course is taught by legal AI<\/abbr> expert Oliver Roberts, who is co-head of the AI<\/abbr> Practice Group at Holtzman Vogel, editor-in-chief of AI<\/abbr> and the Law at The National Law Review, founder and CEO<\/abbr> of Wickard.ai, and an adjunct professor of law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. It culminates in a Legal AI<\/abbr> certification exam.<\/p>\n
